  • Fethiye Ticaret Meslek Lisesi School is a Vocational  High School in Turkey in Fethiye city, which is situated near the
    Taurus Mountain, on Mediterranean Sea. The outskirts of the town and the city belong to the one of the most interesting
    parts of Turkey.

  • As Fethiye Commerce Vocational High School, we give a great importance to Life-Long Education period. Providing a situation or an opportunity where our teachers and students can cooperate with other cultures is one of our schools’ priorities.

  • 80 per cent of our students travel to their school from our county’s villages by private school services – Nearly all their families live on farming and level of their income is very low. The students whose income is insufficient and parents are divorced or unemployed can hardly continue their education.

  • Most of our students’ parents education is at a primary school level which is for 5 years. To add this point, either or in some cases both parents are illiterate.

  • That the students living in villages don’t have separate room to study puts them in a difficult situation in their social lives and education.

  • Although it appears that all these negative points make students education conditions difficult, our ambition is to overcome all these negative conditions through creating new opportunities for them;

  • Our school needs this project to equalize educational opportunities of the youth from villages through entrusting them the positions of the leaders of groups responsible for doing particular tasks connected with the project, encouraging and making students interested in new technologies: computer, internet; getting in touch teenagers who are in particularly difficult economical and social situations, overcoming their shyness resulting from the situations;

  • We want to form the attitude of tolerance; students through contact with pupils from other countries learn how to be tolerant of different culture, customs, race, religion;

  • Taking part in this project will let us to  gather materials showing the similarities and differences and the influence of the partner countries on creating and developing culture heritage and civilization accomplishment of the whole Europe;

 We are from Fethiye which is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Turkey.Fethiye,called as”Land of Lights”,is in the south-west of Turkey.It’s on the Mediterranian coast. Its population is nearly 60 thousand.It’s famous for its wonderful beaches, nature and historical sites which date back to Lycian times. Also it’s close to Bodrum, Marmaris, Datça, Kaş, Kalkan, Antalya and Alanya which are also popular tourist resorts. 
OUR SCHOOL

 It is composed of three schools and a practising hotel where some of our students do their (internship) vocational training.

 A) ANATOLIAN VOCATIONAL TOURISM AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT HIGH SCHOOL
 (‘Anatolian’is the name used for schools where a foreign language- for example English or German-is taught intensively)

 In this school there are classes of English and German which is 10 hours a week. It is a four-year school. We have 9,10,11 and 12grades. Students choose their vocational field at the 10. grade and they choose their vocational branches at 11. grade.

These fields are:
 - Reception and Front Desk,
          - Cookery,
          - Catering and Bar (International Serving Techniques),
 - Housekeeping,
 - Travel Agency.

 The students are trained according to the fields they choose and do their vocational (practising) training at the hotels around the town throughout the tourism season for six months. The students study at school from October to April, and do their practice training from May to September.

 B) ANATOLIAN VOCATIONAL COMMERCE HIGH SCHOOL

 In this school there are classes of English which is 10 hours a week. It is a four-year school. We have 9,10,11, and 12 grades. Students choose their vocational field at the 10. grade and they choose their vocational branches at 11. grade.

These fields are:
          -    Accountancy and Finance,
          -    Secretaryship and office management,
          -    Computer usage. 

 The students are trained according to the fields they choose and do their vocational (practising) training at the offical or private offices around the town throughout their 12th year at school. The students study at school for 2 days and do their practice training 3 days a week.

 C) VOCATIONAL COMMERCE HIGH SCHOOL

 This school is nearly same as the anatolian vocational commerce high school,but the only difference is that the students are taught English but not as intensively as the other schools above.
The number of students who are trained and educated at our school is 850.

 On the other hand,because of the need of qualified staff in tourism sector,we organise training courses for unemployed adults everyyear.The courses are done in 2 periots each of which for 2 months.At the end of the training course the participants are certificated and sent to the hotels to work.

 Shortly, we are trying our best to support the tourism industry in our town.
